INTERVIEW: Art The Arms Fair

Listen to the interview below to learn more about Art The Arms Fair from one of the organisers, Emily Graham.  Lina Kay chats with Emily to find out what the artistic event is all about; what people know about the general situation; reaction to their presence; which artists they feature and why.

Art The Arms Fair looks to highlight the official selling of arms, a big part of which happens in London during the same dates as their event.  However, the weapons and arms event they mirror is officially known as Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI).  It takes place in London’s Docklands every two years (10th-13th September 2019).

Art The Arms Fair describes itself this way on own website:

"Artists and art-lovers, we all believe in the power of art to make a difference. We work with artists to expose the arms fair – painters, poets, performers & the passionate amateurs.
We run a biennial art exhibition to coincide with the arms fair being held in London. We are all volunteers.
We are the proud receivers of the 2018 Nesta & Observer’s New Radicals award and of an original Banksy in 2017."
